Hype 3x3 Hockey" Tournament Delivers Thrilling Action in Riga (Mārupe)

The event brought together 10 competitive teams comprised of approximately 110 professional players from Latvia, Lithuania, and Sweden.

The tournament began with a ceremonial puck drop performed by IIHF Council Member Viesturs Koziols, adding to the prestige of the event.

A scout from a well-known organization was also spotted in the stands, highlighting the growing recognition of the 3x3 format.

Off the ice, representatives from Lucky Punch, an energy drink producer, engaged with participants and spectators, infusing the atmosphere with positive energy.

Participating teams included HK Kolumbs, HK Brocēni, HK Latgale, HK Hokejs Priekam, HK Rokiškis, HK Pelēkie Kardināli, HK Lucky Punch, HK Next Hockey, HK Tērvetes Backshots, and HK Zviedru Vija. Spectators were captivated by the high level of individual skill on display, and the games were marked by their intensity and unpredictable outcomes, often remaining in doubt until the final seconds.

The semifinal matchups garnered particular attention for their fierce competition, while the championship game proved to be a true hockey thriller. The final saw a gripping showdown between Hokejs Priekam and HK Tērvetes Backshots. Fortune ultimately favored Hokejs Priekam, as Pēteris Bulans found the back of Kārlis Mežrags net with just 1:12 remaining in the game, securing the tournament victory for Hokejs Priekam under the guidance of coach Anri Ravinskis.

The organizers extend their sincere gratitude to Lucky Punch, Mežpils alus, and the Mārupe Municipality for their invaluable support and significant contribution to the continued development of 3x3 hockey in Latvia.

We sincerely wish all the players great success in their hockey careers and hope to see them competing at the 2030 Olympic Games, where 3x3 hockey is planned to be featured as an official discipline.
