Hype 3x3 Hockey: A Midsummer Masterclass in Marupe

 On July 12-13, 2025, the Baltic hockey scene witnessed a landmark event as the Hype 3x3 Hockey Tournament took center stage. Over two days of relentless action, 105 elite players representing 10 powerhouse teams battled in a format designed for speed, skill, and high-octane entertainment. 

The tournament featured 10 powerhouse rosters split into two competitive subgroups:

Hokejs Priekam: Featuring top scorers Sandis Vilmanis, Valters Niedrajs, and Peteris Bulans.

HK Tērvetes Backshots: Led by Rūdolfs Polčs and Raivis Ansons.

Lucky Punch: Including players such as Frenks Razgals and Kristians Zelts.

HK Latgale: Featuring standout performers Aleksandrs Zaprivoda and Maksims Pumpiņš.

HK Kolumbs: Featuring Endijs Lācis, Toms Trockis, and Martynas Grinius.

HK Brocēni: Including Mārtiņš Šulcs, Niks Feņenko, and Dans Ločmelis.

Next Hockey: Featuring Didzis Jansons and Ričards Rutkis.

HK Rokiškis: Including Kristupas Blazys, Ilja Grekovs, and Aleksandrs Galkins.

HK Pelēkie Kardināli: Featuring Jānis Sidašs and Renars Cipruss.

HK Zviedru Vija: Including Matīss Ošāns and Hugo Naburgs

The Road to the Finals

The tournament was structured into two competitive subgroups, where only the top two teams from each progressed to the knockout stage. The intensity of the group play set a high bar, leading to two nail-biting semifinals:Semifinal 1: Hokejs Priekam narrowly defeated Lucky Punch with a score of 2-1.

Semifinal 2: HK Tērvetes Backshots edged out HK Latgale in a high-scoring 3-2 thriller




A Sold-Out Grand Finale

The championship game was played before a capacity crowd, creating an electric atmosphere that matched the stakes on the ice. In a defensive masterclass that kept fans on the edge of their seats, Hokejs Priekam secured the title with a clinical 1-0 victory over HK Tērvetes Backshots.

The winning roster featured a blend of rising stars and tactical discipline: Ēriks Mateiko, Kristians Samitis, Peteris Bulans, Valters Niedrajs, Otto Pauls Poļakovs, Gustavs Ozoliņš, Rainers Rullers, Sandis Vilmanis, and goaltender Linards Feldbergs.



Score Leaders

The tournament showcased an exceptionally high level of individual talent. According to the official statistics:

Sandis Vilmanis (Hokejs Priekam) and Aleksandrs Zaprivoda (HK Latgale) shared the top of the leaderboard with 10 points each.

Valters Niedrajs (Hokejs Priekam) followed closely with 9 points.

Rūdolfs Polčs and Raivis Ansons (HK Tērvetes Backshots), along with Maksims Pumpiņš (HK Latgale) and Peteris Bulans (Hokejs Priekam), all delivered standout performances with 8 points apiece.
